MACKIE'S CLOTHING BOUTIQUE

Mackie's is an imaginary retail clothing store that opened it's doors on January 8, 2021. Mackie's sells only in-store and does not have credit accounts, neither receivables nor payables, at this time.

Mackie's owner and GM, Melisa Mackie, aims to operate her store as efficiently as possible. She also intends to be debt-free, at least until opening new stores in the future, after the Boutique's revenue and profit are reliable and growing. She prepared a budget for her new store before opening and carefully purchased the best displays, supplies and equipment she believed would give the store the best chance of success.

It is now the end of Q1. Purchases and Sales were recorded when they occurred. Inventory has been counted and reconciled. This example shows the results of Mackie's Clothing Boutique's first 3 months, including inventory reconciliation and report, P&L and budget variance with variance explanations and recommendations. This example also includes a 3-way planner for estimating outcome, based on several factors, such as cost, sale price, sales quantity and profit.

Now that Mackie's has been open for a few months, some analysis has been done and reports written to get a deeper view of how operations currently stand, what could be learned from this first quarter and what needs to be done next to make the next quarter successful. This example is the follow up to the first Mackie's example. Three tables have been linked to the first example file and stored in the data model of this second example file to show ETL data collection, cleanup and integration (the extraction, transformation and loading process). You will find reports with charts, analysis, interpretation and recommendations.
